The Workshop
Saltwood Workshop grew from a cabinet-maker's way of looking at things: proportion, material, joinery and the belief that even the simplest object deserves to be properly considered.
Each piece begins with its use. Familiar forms are pared back, adjusted and sometimes given an unexpected detail, traditional making applied with a contemporary eye.
The Maker
Saltwood Workshop is the work of Kit Crowder, a cabinet maker whose relationship with woodworking began at his grandfather's workbench. After a few years spent as a garlic farmer, he returned to making with a different eye: less interested in ornament than in proportion, usefulness and the small decisions that make an everyday object feel right. Saltwood is where those ideas are explored, one object and one small batch at a time.
